ALWANI BADARUDDIN @ALWAGERA

Amanina Alwani Binti Badaruddin was born in Brunei Darussalam and had grown up living in a musical background family. Both of her parents are musicians and she was exposed to a formal music education at the tender age of 4. Being​ ​an​ ​active​ ​wind​ ​orchestra​ ​member​ ​in​ ​her​ ​high school,​ ​she​ ​then became​ ​the​ ​conductor​ ​of​ ​Seratas​ ​Royal​ ​Rhapsody​ ​in​ ​2008​ ​and​ ​decided​ ​to​ ​continue​ ​her​ passion ​in​ ​music She was accepted to UiTM Faculty of Music for Diploma in Music Performance and managed to study both classical and modern piano under the tutelage of Puan Siti Nur Hajarul Aswad, Encik Faizal Uzir (LokU), Prof Madya Khairil Johari Johar and Mr. Stu MacAskie. Realising that she had a great passion in songwriting , she decided to undertake Bachelor in Music Composition UITM ; majoring in pop composition under the guidance of Encik Shukor Moner from 2011-2013. She was then awarded Anugerah Tun Emas Fatimah in 2013 from UiTM during her convocation ceremony and determined to pursue her dream in this field.

In 2015, Alwani was offered the Young Lecturer Scheme (TPM) scholarship from UiTM and the Ministry of Higher Education and had further her study at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland (MSc Music for Screen). Alwagera is an educator, film composer, writer, arranger, and singer who is now a full time lecturer at the UiTM Faculty of Music  since 2016.  Alwagera had produced OST and film score for few films such as Tiga Janda Melawan Dunia, Kencing Malam, Handbag, an award winning animation called Batik Girl also a  writer and composer for a rising group; Dua Dua, Danial Chuer, Ismail Izzani, Asmidar, government national theme campaigns such as Dekad Membaca Kebangsaan and Daulat Tuanku UiTM, a commercial work with Petronas Raya 2023, Original Soundtrack (OST) and many more. She had also released her own single in November 2020 titled Hujan produced by Space Records Malaysia.

Alwagera`s forte is in RnB, Pop and Ballad music, however she is a versatile composer who is always eager to explore the possibility of music in various genres and has also created numerous work that adapts Malaysian traditional music such as Gamelan, Folk songs, Joget, Asli, Keroncong and even Ethnic Jazz Fusion music. In her singing career, she has been exposed to jazz music since she was 15 years old and had worked closely with the TZ Project, a jazz band from Taiping, Perak for many years before working in UiTM. After a brief hiatus due to various composition projects, she is now actively performing again alongside Rizaltony and exploring the Malaysian Jazz scene in many areas and venues including the Simply Jazz, Jao Tim, Liberal Latte, Jazz Up9, Malaysian Jazz Piano Festivals and many more. 

Among the local artist that she had collaborated with are WVC Jazz Ensemble, Rizaltony Group, AG Coco, Haleeda Mazlin, Kharil Johari Johar, Adnan Abu Hassan, Danial Chuer, Atilia Harun, Asmidar, Amir Jahari, Anas Ridzuan, Ismail Izzani, Mia Leteefa, Kayda Aziz and Dua Dua to name a few.​​​
